our Program

The purposes of the Christian Education program of St. Clements's are to provide for the children of our parish a foundation in the teachings and doctrines of the Catholic Church as well as an opportunity for adults to expand their knowledge and understandings of the Church and of the Bible.

The education program is organized with classes for the children from three years old through high school.  Each class has two teachers and a classroom.  Classes are held on Sunday mornings between masses on a schedule which closely follows the school year of the public schools in the area.

The high school program (see Youth Group) is for all high school students, grades nine through twelve. They follow approximately the same schedule as the rest of the CD students except that they may attend a Life Teen Mass or other special program in lieu of a Sunday morning meeting. Materials and content are geared to the teen age years and concerns of Christian, Catholic youth in today's world. The youth are also involved in fund raising activities to help fund their activities as well as help build community within the group.  They are also involved in community service projects.

There is an inquiry (RCIA-Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) class for adults who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith.  This class also meets on Sunday mornings between masses. Members of this class may elect to join the Catholic Church on Holy Saturday. Another facet of Christian Education includes Bible Study. Classes, in English, which focus on the readings for the next Sunday, meet on Wednesdays, one at 9:45 A.M. and one at 7:00 P.M. Additionally, there are two Bible Study groups, focusing on the Acts of the Apostles and using the LITTLE ROCK BIBLE STUDY materials which meet on Sunday mornings between masses. One class is in English and one is in Spanish;

Life Teen

Come join the St. Clement's Teen group and get in on the fun and make a commitment to learn about Christ. The teen group meets on Sundays at 12:30 am at St. Clement's Catholic Church. The program is based on teen participation and activities not lecture material. High School students are challenged to examine the role of God in their social setting and their personal relationship with Christ. Trips to the Ocoee River (Whitwater Rafting), North Carolina (Snow Sking), gathering with other local church youth groups along with attending Life Teen Mass (awesome music) are also part of the experience. Come check it out and bring a friend.

Coordinators

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults)

RCIA Coordinator: Janice Burrell (706) 602-7193

Schedule for 2008-2008

  • Who can participate in RCIA?
    • Persons definitely interested in becoming Catholic and who have never received Baptism or were baptized previously in another Christian religion.
    • Persons who either think they may want to become Catholic or simply want to know more about the Catholic faith, without obligation
    • Catholics who received the Sacrament of Baptism, but not the Sacraments of Penance, Eucharist, and/or Confirmation.
    • Catholics, who have been away from the Church for awhile and who want to return to active practice of the faith.
    • Catholics interested in an adult level refresher course in their faith.

  • What is RCIA?

RCIA is a faith journey, during which one learns what Catholics believe, how they worship and pray, how they live in charity as disciples of Christ, how they become integrated into the Church, and how they are sent out to evangelize others.

  • What do participants do?

They reflect on the Word of God and the teachings of the Catholic Church on faith and morals. The Word examined will be each week’s Scripture readings for that Sunday’s Mass, and the teaching topics will systematically explain the Catholic faith.

  • Am I committed to join the Church by participation?

     No.

  • What if I do decide to become a Catholic?

If one makes a decision to become Catholic, he or she will receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist or Holy Communion). Those previously baptized in the same form as Catholics (immersion or pouring & Mt. 28: 19 formula) are not re – baptized, rather they receive Confirmation and Eucharist. Acceptance into the Church and reception of the Sacraments of Initiation ordinarily occur at Easter.
